Golden Retriever Dog Breed History

Posted by admin on Mar 19, 2009
Drew Carey
John Williams asked:

The Golden Retriever is a popular breed of dog that was used as a retrieving dog while hunting wild fowl in the past. It is one of the most common dogs for families now as it is very tolerant, easy to handle and doesn’t require much from the owners besides exercise, food and visits to the vet. Though known to get along well with other dogs and people, they sometimes get human traits and then are not very fond of other dogs. Due to its friendly nature, Golden Retrievers are not good watchdogs. However, they are liked for their fondness of people.

Golden Retrievers are athletic dogs that are well balanced. They are a large breed, but are slightly longer than they are tall. Golden Retrievers have an outgoing temperament with a very luxurious coat. The coat is usually straight, waterproof and dense. Golden Retrievers do not have hard, silky, or wool-like hair. As they become older, their coats can become darker in color while the fur around their face whitens.

Golden Retrievers are about 22 to 24 inches tall but reach that height after only one year of age. After their second year, they maintain their weight at 60 to 75 pounds.

This breed of dog is quite active, but also very patient. Their history as dogs sitting and waiting for the catch during hunts may be the cause of this. They also enjoy cold water, which may also be a trait gained from their hunting past. Retrievers are affectionate towards people and are often used as therapy dogs because of this. Though they are intelligent, they require a companion to be happy which makes them great assistance dogs. Golden Retrievers also enjoy retrieving anything, from tennis balls to frisbees.

Golden Retrievers were grown in Scotland and come from a cross of a yellow dog, Nous and a Tweed Water Spaniel named Belle. They continued to breed as they were the idea of the best hunting dog. The idea was to create a dog that was not only powerful but gentle and affectionate towards people.

Unfortunately since they are often profitable dogs, many corrupt breeders don’t take care of them and they are prone to quite a few diseases. Hip dysplasia is a common problem in the breed, along with von Willebrand’s disease and cataracts. Potential owners should check to make sure that the parents of the dog had healthy hips as well.

Since purebred Golden Retrievers are in high demand, many are sadly abandoned by owners who no longer care for them. The dogs end up in animal shelters, but fortunately there are many organizations which try to rescue and adopt these abandoned Golden Retrievers. They are often placed in foster homes until a permanent home for them is found.

There are also quite a few famous Golden Retrievers, such as Comet from Full House, the star of the movie Air Bud, Liberty, President Ford’s pet and Speedy from The Drew Carey Show. Golden Retrievers are popular because of their caring attitude towards people and the wonderful companionship that they can bring to a family.

Still No Date Set for the Carey-jaracz Wedding

Posted by admin on Mar 18, 2009
Drew Carey
Jerome Butterfield asked:

Drew Carey, the famous stand-up comedian turned actor and game show host, proposed to his fiancé back in October of 2007 and now, eight months later, fans are still waiting for a set wedding date – a wedding seemingly made for a the fat performer.

Carey, who has worked his way up through the celebrity ranks since retiring from the Marines more than two decades ago, has been getting overwhelmingly positive reviews after taking Bob Barker’s post on the Price is Right and the show, despite being a dinosaur in television years, has managed to climb in ratings. Now, with his post as host locked down, fans ask: “Will Drew Carey and Nicole Jaracz finally tie the knot this summer?”

Carey, who is deemed overweight and obese by some critic circles, has managed to fend off the societal stigma against fat people while at the same time gaining a reputation for his ability to mow through giant dinner portions. That insatiable appetite may meet its match with his bride-to-be. Jaracz has said, “the fastest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” Coincidently, she is a trained and practiced chef who recently graduated from culinary school. Friends close to the couple have said the young cook thinks Carey is a dream come true and she finds him irresistibly handsome. She has long thought that fat is beautiful.

There has been much speculation on the two lovebirds and their unreleased wedding plans, as 50-year-old Carey, who has worked in both movies and television, grows in fame. One thing is for certain, say insiders, the food served at the reception will be “out of this world” and the cake will be “unbelievably good.” In a statement regarding the engagement, publicist Christina Papadopoulos wrote, “It will be the first marriage for both. No date for a wedding has been set yet. They are both very happy and excited about their future together.”

Home Improvement (Season 2) DVD Review

Posted by admin on Mar 15, 2009
Drew Carey
Britt Gillette asked:

Recipient of 9 Golden Globe and 34 Emmy nominations, Home Improvement spent much of the 1990s as the number one family-friendly comedy series. The creation of three writers who worked on such sitcoms as The Cosby Show (1984) and Roseanne (1988), Home Improvement is only one of a number of successful sitcoms specially constructed for a stand-up comedian in the 1990s. Other such series included Seinfeld (1990), The Drew Carey Show (1995), Everybody Loves Raymond (1996), and King Of Queens (1998) among others. A true groundbreaking series, Home Improvement ranked in the Nielsen Top 10 for 7 of its first 8 seasons, making it one of the most successful prime-time comedy series ever produced…

The Home Improvement (Season 2) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere “Read My Hips” in which Jill plans a romantic evening at home for herself and Tim, but Tim throws a wrench in her plans when he spends the evening hanging out at a bar with Al and the guys from A

Britt Gillette asked:

Premiering in Fall 1996, Everybody Loves Raymond struck an instant chord with TV audiences, becoming a beloved fan favorite that would last for nine successful seasons. Modeled after other successful TV series that cast stand-up comics in starring roles - Seinfeld, The Drew Carey Show, and Home Improvement - all come to mind, Everybody Loves Raymond relied on the talents of comic Ray Romano, but also drew upon a vast well of hilarity present in his fellow cast members…

The Everybody Loves Raymond (Season 2) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere in which Ray appears on a television sports talk show only to turn in a less than flattering appearance. When his family reveals the truth about his awkwardness, Ray is determined to perform better on TV, but his second stint is worse than his first… Other notable episodes from Season 2 include “Brother” in which Ray attempts to bond with Robert on the anniversary of his divorce, and “The Children’s Book” in which Debra’s noble attempt to write a children’s book is turned into a one-on-one writing competition by Ray… Season 2 also features guest appearances by sports figures Roy Firestone, James Worthy, and Pat O’Brien…

Use a Personal Ad Doctor to Help You Get a Date!

Posted by admin on Mar 11, 2009
Drew Carey
Scott White asked:

The entire goal of a personal ad is to attract someone’s attention, and keep it long enough for them to want to learn more about you. You cannot do this if your ad is full of spelling errors; if you come on too strong; if you don’t sound natural; if you’re offensive, even without meaning to be; or if you’re just too over-the-top in any way.

Are you really serious about meeting someone? Do you want a personal ad that’s guranteed to get attention? Then consider hiring someone to rewrite your personal ad for you.

Before you fork out any money to have someone write this hypnotic story that will captivate the attention of myriad admirers, you must have a firm grasp of the rules.

THE RULES

1. You cannot lie - about anything. They always find out, and then you’re screwed. Or maybe not screwed, as the case may be. OK - in trouble. Suffice it to say, lying’s bad. Don’t do it. Say you’re a guy and you’re 5′7″ - if you ever meet her in person, she is going to know you are not 6 feet tall. OK? If you’re a gal and you’re built like a Mimi from The Drew Carey Show, you cannot describe yourself as having an athletic build. Not even close. Use your common sense. They’re not going to fall in love with you over the phone and forgive you later for your “little white lie.” They’re going to think you’re the lying jerk that you are - and you will continue to perpetuate all the ugly myths out there that no one “real” ever posts on those dating sites.

2. You must be willing to be original. Believe it - original works! Don’t try to copy all the other guys and gals out there. Figure out what makes you different, and play that up. Not only will it make you stand out as unique, it also will go a long way toward attracting someone who likes you for you - and that’s what this is really all about, isn’t it?

3. You must ‘fess up that you had help with the ad. Look? it’s not that big a deal. Even Einstein was a really crummy speller. In fact, they thought he was retarded for a long time. So you can’t spell - it’s only a big deal if you make it one. But they’re gonna know, the first time you ever send a follow-up e-mail. So when they ask, “Did you get help with your personal ad?” tell the truth. If any of that last sentence confuses you, please see #1: You cannot lie - about anything.

4. You may not steal anyone else’s ad and try to pass it off as your own. Again, if any of this confuses you, please revisit #1: You cannot lie - about anything.

5. You must let the personal ad doctor you hire know about your successes with your ad. They wouldn’t be doing it if they hadn’t had great success with their ads - so they’re in this with you. Let them know how you do. Maybe invite them to the wedding? At the very least, when anyone asks how you came up with your very clever ad, remember to give a great referral!

YOUR INVESTMENT

The cost to have someone rework your ad into a gem that promises to attract attention ranges from a few bucks to several hundred. Make sure you ask to see samples so that you can be assured the writer has a good track record. Personal ad writing services range from profile reviews to photo services.

With the busy world in which we live, personal ads are a very viable option for meeting that special someone. If you’ve been struggling to figure out just what to say or how to say it, think about hiring your own personal ad doctor. You deserve someone special in your life. Take that one additional step today, and you may finally meet the guy or gal of your dreams. Happy dating!

Partridge Mom Joining Days

Posted by admin on Mar 8, 2009
Drew Carey
Groshan Fabiola asked:

Just as NBC’s Days of Our Lives bids farewell to Billie Reed actress Julie Pinson, a well-known figure from the family-show genre is ready to make a big entrance into the daytime drama. Academy Award-winner Shirley Jones, who is best known for playing a widowed mother Shirley Patridge on ABC’s The Patridge Family, will be having limited appearances on Days of Our Lives. In fact, she will be appearing on the show throughout the February Sweeps period. Jones confirmed this in a conversation with Variety.

“It’s hard work,” Jones told Armand “Army” Archerd of Variety. “I didn’t want to do it, but they gave me more money than — “

Jones is required to speak with an Irish accent for the role, and thus is training with Robert Easton, a prominent dialect coach.

Having grown into the entertainment industry, Jones has had a successful career, with both onscreen and stage accomplishments. Her screen credits include films Oklahoma ! April Love, Carousel, Beyond the Poseidon Adventure and Raising Genius, and the shows Monarch Cove, The Drew Carey Show, Burke’s Law, and of course, The Partridge Family. As for her theater credits, she has Maggie Flynn, The Sound of Music and The King & I under her belt.

On her latest Days of Our Lives project, Jones will take the role of Colleen Brady, the supposedly dead great-aunt of Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney). Colleen’s story was initially shown to viewers through letters exchanged between her and Santo DiMera (played by James Scott in flashback scenes), an Italian businessman with whom she had a forbidden and tragic love affair. It was initially presumed that Colleen died young, though how she died still remains to be a mystery.

The network has yet to announce when exactly Pinson’s episodes will air, but it is assumed that she will appear throughout February, ending her stint in early March.

The New Age Of Television Brings The World To You Instantly

Posted by admin on Mar 6, 2009
Drew Carey
Dror Klar asked:

With all the television channels that are available to us today, we have more choices of programming than we ever thought possible. There is truly something on for everyone. It does not matter what your age, background, or sex, television today has a variety of shows that are appropriate for all.

For those who love to watch sports of any kind, you can watch games that are on television for free viewing, or you can use the great pay per view feature that is available on satellite and cable television. The charges for special sporting events will be applied to your monthly bill. For die hard sports fans it is great having access to so many games.

People who like to stay up to date on all the news that can be happening all over the world, no longer have to wait until 6 or 10 p.m. News channels are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. World events happen so quickly and unexpectedly. Wars, floods, earthquakes, and over throws of governments are just a few reasons people like to be informed at all times.

Religious programming used to only be available on a few channels for a limited amount of time on Sunday morning. Now these programs are also available all the time. They have their own channels and people can watch many different shows that share their beliefs. It is wonderful for those who are unable to attend their churches, synagogues, or mosques.

Everyone remembers that Saturday was the cartoon day. Kids all over America looked forward to Saturday because it was non stop cartoon programs for hours every Saturday. Now everyday is cartoon day! Scooby Doo, Popeye, Sesame Street, and many more can be viewed as much or as little as parents allow.

Reality television shows like Survivor and fear Factor are all the rage in television programming in this day and age. There is just something that people love about watching others do crazy, disgusting, and sometimes dangerous things for money.

There are great new game shows like Deal or No Deal and even one called Are you smarter than a fifth grader. Bob Barker has retired from the Price is Right and the hilarious Drew Carey has taken his place.

Television has definitely entered a new age and for those who love our television shows, it will probably only get better and better as the years go by.

Get Football Fever With Cleveland Browns Tickets

Posted by admin on Mar 3, 2009
Drew Carey
Al Terry asked:

Cleveland Browns tickets are a great way to catch on some real football fever. Not only will you see some great action on the field but you will also be witness to some of the most loyal and vocal fan following in the NFL.

The Cleveland Browns are affiliated with the American Football Conference and the AFC North under the National Football League. The Browns’ home turf is the Cleveland Browns Stadium and the team has a 13 Division Championships, 11 Conference Championships and 8 League Championships to their name.

Starting Strong

The Browns were officially born in 1946 and immediately distinguished themselves as a strong team on the field. They were also blessed with tremendous support from their fans and from their earliest days, Cleveland Browns tickets always sold well. Through the 1950s the team played very strong football, advancing to the championships on more than one occasion. The team also had some extremely good players like Ray Renfro.

In 1957, the Browns drafted a young man called Jim Brown who became one of the star attractions for the team. While things seemed to be going well on the field, off the field it was a whole different story. A power struggle was taking place between Jim Brown, Art Modell and Paul Brown. In 1964, the Browns had yet another championship season but it would their last.

Kardiac Kids and Controversy

When Paul Brown left the team, the Browns suffered greatly, with the season record dipping to 4-10 in 1974. The Browns began to pick up the pace in 1976 and soon had established a core set of players who performed well on the field. By 1979, they were known as the Kardiac Kids since they kept playing such close games. 1980 proved to be a memorable year for the Browns and its fans as well. All those who had bought Cleveland Browns tickets were rewarded with seeing a real dream season with the Kardiac Kids playing at their best.

1981 wasn’t so dreamy however and the Browns began to slip. It wasn’t until 1984 that the team would begin to show improvement once again and by 1986, the Browns were showing impressive performances in their defensive plays. The team made a name as one of the elite teams in the NFL and things seemed to be going well until trouble of another kind began brewing in the nineties.

In 1995, owner Art Modell announced his plans to move the team to Baltimore and was met with overwhelming resistance from fans. Over 100 lawsuits were filed and even actor Drew Carey came down to Cleveland to join what was known as the Fan Jam, a protest held to keep the Browns in Cleveland. The Browns stayed and the fans showed their power once again when a controversy erupted in 2005 against team president John Collins.

Needless to say, the biggest buyers of Cleveland Browns tickets are its loyal fans, a following that has the distinction of being the most loyal in the NFL. Studies have shown that roughly 99.8% of the seats are taken by Browns fans. Join the football fever and get your Cleveland Browns tickets by ordering online through an authorized ticket vendor.
